Enterprises Embrace Converged Apps, Revenues Continue Ramp-Up
Parsippany, NJ January 15, 2008 According to the latest Telecom Intelligence Group report, “2007 Enterprise Converged Applications Market Analysis and Forecast,” which is part of the InfoTrack for Unified Communications program, enterprise belief in the business value of converged applications jumped from 55 percent in 2006 to 63 percent by the end of last year.
“2007 Enterprise Converged Applications Market Analysis and Forecast” was based on survey responses from the Telecom Intelligence Group’s research panel of U.S. and international enterprise and SMB decision-makers. More than 60 percent of enterprises now planning to implement unified communications (UC) applications indicated accessing UC apps from any endpoint device was the most important UC capability, up more than 10 points from 2006.
The report also finds systems and applications vendors are doing a better job in delivering the message that these applications are not simply a means of improving worker productivity. Rather, they actually can improve key business processes and can enable enterprises of all sizes to change the way they do business.
“During the next three years, our research tells us such UC applications as UC Client, Web conferencing and desktop videoconferencing will experience double-digit adoption rates,” says Mike O’Neill, vice president and publisher, The Telecom Intelligence Group. “We predict the combined revenue for Enterprise UC applications will grow from nearly $1.5 million last year to $3.5 million 2010, which reflects a CAGR of 19 percent.”
Nearly half of the polled enterprise decision makers believe UC applications offer the highest potential business value among four categories of converged applications. Interestingly, “communications-enabled business processes” came in second, significantly ahead of “IP contact centers” and “SIP-based business apps.”
