Fujitsu Taps Verizon For North American Business
Verizon Business will be working even closer with Fujitsu in North America as the $43 billion Japanese electronics giant rapidly expands as a showcase customer for its enterprise services.
Under terms of a contract of undisclosed value, Fujitsu said this morning it has expanded its existing relation with Verizon to encompass a private IP network that will link its 11,300 North American employees. The contract also is said to cover all-distance voice services, audio and Web conferencing, hosting services, and customer premises equipment (CPE).
A key piece of the deal is Verizon Private IP services that will connect Fujitsu's corporate headquarters in Tokyo with its U.S. regional headquarters in Sunnyvale, Calif., and onward to sites in places like Trenton, N.J., and Tampa.
Also covered, Verizon and Fujitsu said, is data-center collocation, with Fujitsu using the Verizon Enterprise Center, a global customer portal that manages billing, order functions and hosted account maintenance activities.
Verizon was quick to herald the expanded contract. "We excel at helping Fujitsu and other multinational corporations improve their business operations through advanced communications and IT solutions," says Steve Young, group president/corporate and government markets for Verizon Business. "Working closely with our customer, we were able to design and implement a solution tailored to support Fujitsu's growth requirements while leveraging the company's existing communications infrastructure."
